DA welcomes ousting of Sedibeng District Mayor

“Today is a good day for Sedibeng, an ineffective mayor must leave her seat,” said Cllr Sibusiso Dyonase, DA Sedibeng Caucus leader.

The DA in Sedibeng welcomes the successful Motion of No Confidence (MONC) against Executive Mayor Cllr Lerato Maloka. With 26 votes in favour and 21 against, the municipality is finally rid of an ineffective leader who failed to implement the financial recovery plan, allowed finances to spiral into chaos and prioritised wasteful spending over service delivery.

Within the next 14 days, a new mayor will be elected. The DA remains committed to ensuring that Sedibeng residents come first by supporting a government that fights corruption and delivers services.
