Firearms and ammunition seized in successful Meyerton operation!

Police in collaboration with multiple law enforcement agencies successfully executed a search and seizure Warrant (J51) on 28 March at Varing Street, Riverdale, Meyerton.

This operation was conducted as part of ongoing efforts to curb illegal firearm possession and related crimes. Units Involved: Sedibeng Infrastructure C-Relief, Meyerton SAPS, Midvaal Peace Officers, Compol, Elite VIP.

The operation led to the arrest of 66-year-old male on charges under the Firearms Control Act 60 of 2000, including: Two counts of Regulation 3 – Possession of firearms without a licence, permit, or authorization (read with Section 120 (1) (a).

Two counts of Regulation 90(a) – Possession of ammunition without a valid firearm licence (read with Section 120 (1) (a).

Seized Exhibits: One pistol (with intact serial number), one (1) magazine, and twelve (12) live 9mm rounds. One pistol, one magazine and one hundred and ten live 7.65mm rounds. One 9mm magazine containing 14 live 9mm rounds. One Blow Mini 9 pistol, one magazine and three live rounds. One unidentified revolver with six live rounds.

The suspect is set to appear before the Meyerton Magistrate court soon, where further legal proceedings will take place. Major General Mukwevho welcomes the effective team effort and remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of our communities by removing illegal firearms from circulation.
