Police sweep in De Deur nets 14 undocumented migrants and 3 drug suspects

On Monday, 12 May, the Vala Umgodi operation commenced with a parade held at Spar in Walkerville. The proceedings of the parade initiated with a solemn prayer, followed by the meticulous recitation of the South African Police Service Code of Conduct, with the intention of encouraging adherence to the Code amongst members.

During the parade, De Deur SAPS Station Commander Colonel Lucas Nkosi addressed the gathering, emphasizing the paramount importance of aligning themselves with the Code of Conduct at all times to preclude unnecessary repercussions. Colonel Lucas Nkosi further exhorted members to prioritize mutual support while executing their duties.

This operation augmented police visibility in De Deur policing precincts to combat crime and curb illicit activities. During this operation, 14 undocumented individuals were apprehended, with 11 hailing from Mozambique, 1 from Zambia, 1 from Zimbabwe and 1 from Malawi. Additionally, three individuals were arrested for possession of illicit substances.

Captain Mthimkulu of De Deur SAPS commended the members for their diligent efforts in curbing criminality in the area.
