September 22, 2025

Meyerton SAPS has opened a murder and robbery case following the fatal shooting of 36-year-old Simphiwe Xaba on Sunday, 21 September.

Police were alerted by Kopanong Hospital, where Xaba was declared dead on arrival after sustaining multiple gunshot wounds.

“Upon investigation, the crime scene was identified at the Henley on Klip railway line, between Highbury and Henley. Four empty cartridges and blood stains were found at the scene,” confirmed Constable Nompumelelo Zazini, Meyerton SAPS spokesperson.

According to SAPS, the suspects allegedly confronted Xaba, who resisted during the robbery. He was shot several times before being rushed to hospital, where he later died.

The suspects fled and remain at large.

Meyerton SAPS is appealing to community members for information that could lead to the arrest of the perpetrators.

“Anyone with information is urged to contact their nearest police station or call Crime Stop on 08600 10111. All information will be treated confidentially,” Constable Zazini added.
