Meyerton SAPS and stakeholders host GBV and Crime Awareness Campaign at Loch Street

A Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and Crime Awareness Campaign was hosted on 5 November at Loch Street in the Meyerton CBD. The outreach was coordinated by the Meyerton SAPS GBV Coordinator, together with Midvaal Traffic, GBV Brigades and Siyabangena Patrollers, who spent the day engaging with members of the community.

The campaign focused on creating awareness and educating residents about Domestic Violence, alcohol and drug abuse, sexual offences and the safety of elderly citizens when using ATMs.

The aim was to empower the public with knowledge, support structures and preventative information to help reduce incidents of crime and GBV in the area.

During the activation, about 120 GBV pamphlets were handed out to community members passing by, ensuring that information reached both youth and adults in the busy Loch Street zone. The awareness team emphasised the importance of reporting GBV and crime, and encouraged community involvement in building safer neighbourhoods.
