11 schoolchildren die in Vaal transport crash
The Gauteng MEC for Education, Matome Chiloane, will be visiting the scene of a tragic private scholar transport incident that took place this morning, around 7am, Monday, 19 January, in the Vanderbijlpark area.
Preliminary reports indicate that 11 learners sadly lost their lives at the scene, while five (5) learners sustained critical injuries and are currently en route to hospital for urgent medical care. According to those on scene, the driver survived the crash.
Rene Parks from Cause 4 Paws in Walkerville told Walkerville and Savanna City Times: “This is an unfolding situation, and authorities are continuing investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash. Motorists are urged to avoid the area and use alternative routes. Our thoughts and condolences are with the families, schools, and communities affected during this incredibly difficult time.”
