EFF condemns e-hailing driver murder
The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) Gauteng expressed profound shock and abhorrence at the brutal killing of an e-hailing driver in Pretoria West. A dashboard camera video circulating on social media shows a man and woman allegedly harassing and strangling the driver until he died, then stealing his vehicle and belongings.
While the South African Police Service (SAPS) has not formally communicated the case, the alleged suspects are reported to be Selanche Williams and Amogelang Kekana. The EFF calls on the public to assist law enforcement with information to arrest them.
The statement condemns the trend of targeting e-hailing drivers, describing it as cowardly and barbaric. EFF Gauteng supports Julius Malema’s call for the state to invest in body-worn and dashboard cameras to prevent crime, preserve evidence, and expose criminals.
The EFF extends condolences to the driver’s family, friends, and colleagues, urging the police to act swiftly and ensure justice. It emphasizes that roadside violence against drivers and citizens must be confronted urgently.
