Midvaal gets provincial boost as Multi-Agency Operation tackles service delivery

On 13 February 2026, the Gauteng Provincial Government intensified its service delivery drive in the Midvaal Local Municipality through a large-scale Integrated Provincial Service Delivery Operation aimed at improving safety and accelerating responses to community concerns.

The operation was conducted in collaboration with the South African Police Service (SAPS), Metropolitan Municipal Police Departments (MPDs), and local and district municipalities. The multi-agency initiative formed part of the province’s broader strategy to strengthen coordination across government spheres while tackling crime and service delivery challenges at local level.

Various provincial departments and law enforcement agencies were deployed across Midvaal, engaging directly with residents and attending to reported issues on the ground. The operation focused on enhancing police visibility, promoting information sharing between agencies and showcasing technological tools used in crime prevention.

A political briefing was led by Jacob Mamabolo at the Midvaal Local Municipality, joined by Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs Deputy Minister Dickson Masemola and Tommy Mthombeni. The leadership engagement reinforced government’s commitment to hands-on oversight and coordinated governance.

Mamabolo and Masemola are currently conducting oversight at the second service delivery site – a roadblock on the R42 route connecting Heidelberg and Vereeniging – where law enforcement agencies are intensifying visibility and compliance operations as part of the broader intervention.

Mamabolo said: “The integrated approach is designed to address crime across jurisdictions while ensuring that communities receive immediate and coordinated support from relevant departments.”
