Two suspects arrested after hijacked vehicle recovered in De Deur

Two male suspects were arrested after Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) Tactical Response Unit (TRU) officers recovered a hijacked vehicle in De Deur.

JMPD officers acted on information from Tracker about a silver Toyota Starlet hijacked in the Mtanami Informal Settlement. The vehicle’s GPS signal led officers to Doornkuil Farm along the Golden Highway, where they intercepted it with two occupants inside.

A search of the suspects and the vehicle uncovered a black and grey 9mm firearm with a filed-off serial number and an empty magazine.

The suspects were arrested at the scene and detained at De Deur SAPS. The recovered vehicle and firearm were booked in as evidence.

Authorities have not released further details as investigations continue.
