Midvaal installs over 100 streetlights to improve safety in Savanna City
Residents of Savanna City are expected to benefit from improved visibility and enhanced safety following the installation of 112 new streetlights by the Midvaal Local Municipality.
The municipality recently confirmed the completion of the project, which began in October 2025 and was finalised at a cost of approximately R1 million.
According to the municipality, the installation forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen service delivery and create safer communities through improved infrastructure development.
Midvaal Executive Mayor Alderman Peter Teixeira said, “This project reflects our continued commitment to investing in infrastructure that improves the daily lives of residents and promotes safer public spaces.”
The newly installed streetlights are expected to assist residents travelling at night while also helping to deter criminal activities often committed in poorly lit areas.
Municipal officials said the project reflects Midvaal’s commitment to investing in infrastructure that improves the daily lives of residents and promotes safer public spaces.
The municipality added that it will continue implementing projects aimed at providing reliable and sustainable services across communities within the region.
Residents have welcomed the development, expressing hope that improved lighting will contribute to greater safety and visibility in the area, particularly during the evening hours.
