Meyerton SAPS promotes child safety at Sicelo Primary School

Learners at Sicelo Primary School received important child safety education during a school awareness programme led by Meyerton SAPS, on 18 May.

The initiative was conducted by Meyerton Social Crime Prevention, the Sector 1 manager and several stakeholders including the Youth Desk, Siyabangena, Agape, peace officers and school management. The programme engaged 55 Grade R learners on issues relating to child protection, abuse prevention and personal safety.

According to Meyerton Communication officer, Constable Nompumelelo Zazini, the campaign forms part of ongoing efforts to ensure children are protected from abuse, neglect and exploitation.

“Every child deserves to feel safe, loved and heard. We must stand together to protect children, speak up against abuse and build a future where every child can grow with dignity and hope,” said Zazini.

She added that Meyerton SAPS remains committed to protecting children’s rights through continuous awareness programmes at schools and within communities.

School management welcomed the visit and expressed appreciation to the stakeholders involved, saying the programme showed care and concern for the wellbeing of learners.
