Appeal to find Naledi

Police are appealing for public assistance in locating Naledi Destiny Zwane (21), a third-year North-West University (NWU) student who was reported missing after she disappeared on 9 June.

According to her family, Naledi was dropped off near the Meyerton Licence Department shortly before her scheduled learner’s licence test appointment at 1pm. She was expected to contact her father after completing the test so that he could fetch her, but she never made the call.

Her mother, Nompumelelo Zwane, said she was communicating with Naledi via WhatsApp until around 12:48 pm , when the messages suddenly stopped. Believing her daughter was busy with the test, she did not immediately become concerned.

When Naledi had still not returned home later that afternoon, her parents searched for her at the Meyerton Licence Department and nearby taxi ranks in Meyerton and Vereeniging, but were unable to find her.

A preliminary police investigation confirmed that Naledi had booked the learner’s licence appointment but never arrived to register or write the test.

At the time of her disappearance, she was reportedly wearing black and pink Adidas sneakers, black or dark blue trousers with side pockets, and had straight-back plaited hair.

Anyone with information on Naledi’s whereabouts is urged to contact: Ntokozo Zwane on 061 461 3485 and Nompumelelo Zwane on 073 737 9526 or Nearest SAPS station

Police investigations are ongoing.
