Take Charge campaign inspires Meyerton youth during school holidays

July 15, 2026

Young people from Meyerton were encouraged to make positive life choices during the Take Charge of Your Life School Holiday Programme hosted by Meyerton SAPS and its partners at St Mary Catholic Church in Ophir Estate on July 14.

Held under the theme “You Have the Power. Your Future. Your Choices,” the programme brought together government departments, community organisations and youth to inspire responsible decision-making and personal development.

Participants attended motivational talks, leadership and life skills sessions, goal-setting workshops and career guidance discussions. They were also educated on government services, where to seek help when facing personal challenges and the importance of making informed decisions.

Meyerton SAPS Communication Officer Constable Nompumelelo Zazini said the programme was designed to equip young people with the knowledge and confidence to build successful futures.

“The Take Charge of Your Life School Holiday Programme is aimed at empowering young people to make informed decisions and become responsible citizens. By exposing them to positive role models, government services and career guidance, we hope to inspire them to choose a brighter future and stay away from crime, drugs and other social ills,” said Zazini.

The programme was organised by Meyerton Social Crime Prevention in partnership with the Gauteng Legislature, Gauteng Department of Community Safety, Gauteng Traffic Department, Gauteng Wardens, Vereeniging SAPS, Agape Lerato, Siyabangena, Sicelo Youth and members of St Mary Catholic Church.
