NPOs engage on compliance and governance

Non-profit organisations from across Emfuleni gathered on 20 August in the Sedibeng region for an engagement session with the Gauteng Department of Social Development aimed at strengthening compliance, governance and accountability.

The session brought together NPO representatives from Emfuleni Local Municipality to discuss the standards expected from organisations delivering services to vulnerable members of the community.

The department used the engagement to highlight the importance of sound governance, responsible management and compliance with funding requirements to ensure organisations provide effective and quality services.

The session also formed part of efforts to strengthen working relationships between the department and NPOs operating across Gauteng.

According to the department, partnerships with compliant and well-managed organisations remain important in ensuring that vulnerable residents receive the support and services they need.

The engagement further reinforced the department’s commitment to working with NPOs while ensuring funded organisations meet the required standards of accountability and service delivery.
