Woman stabbed to death after argument at Meyerton Farms

A 44-year-old woman was killed during an altercation at Meyerton Farms on Sunday night, 23 August, with police arresting a 38-year-old man at the scene.

According to Meyerton SAPS, police responded to a murder complaint at about 22:00 and found the woman lying outside a house. Emergency medical services attended the scene and declared her dead.

Meyerton SAPS Communication Officer Cst Nompumelelo Zazini said the incident began with an argument between the woman and the suspect while they were sitting inside a room.

“The argument started between the suspect and deceased and deceased went out and went to her room,” Zazini said.

Police said the woman later returned carrying a knife and allegedly stabbed the suspect once in the face during the confrontation.

“The suspect managed to overpower deceased and took the same knife and stabbed deceased twice on the chest and on her back,” Zazini said.

The woman collapsed outside the house and one of the tenants contacted police.

“The ambulance also arrived on the scene and declared deceased dead. The suspect was arrested on the scene,” Zazini said.

The 38-year-old suspect, identified by police as Moses Mkhwanaza, was taken into custody.

Meyerton SAPS Acting Station Commander Lt Col Johannes Christiaan Fredericks De Winnaar confirmed the incident through the station’s communication office.

Police, emergency medical services and forensic pathology officials attended the scene. The circumstances surrounding the killing are under investigation.
