Elderly woman robbed of property worth R40,000 in Meyerton

Police are searching for three men who forced their way into a Rothdene home and robbed a 73-year-old woman on Tuesday, 8 September.

The incident occurred at about 15:50 at a house in Michael Street, Meyerton.

According to Meyerton SAPS communication officer Constable TN Zazini, the woman was in her bedroom when the intruders confronted her, ordered her around and demanded money and jewellery.

The men moved her to another room before ransacking the house and stealing a television, cellphone, jewellery, keys and a handbag containing her identity document and other cards. The stolen property is valued at approximately R40,250.

The woman was verbally threatened but was not tied up or injured. She did not see the intruders carrying any weapons.

Police said the men forced open the main gate before gaining entry through burglar bars and a wooden door. They fled the property on foot.
