Three gravel roads in Ohenimuri are set to be upgraded to tar as part of a R11.7 million infrastructure investment by Midvaal Local Municipality, with completion expected by February 2027.
The R11,786,014.04 project will cover Felix Avenue, Jannet Avenue and Morkel Avenue to improve road conditions and accessibility for residents.
“These investments will improve road conditions and ensure safer, more accessible routes for residents,” said Executive Mayor Ald Peter Teixeira.
The municipality said the upgrades form part of its broader efforts to improve road infrastructure alongside ongoing maintenance and pothole repairs through its War on Potholes campaign.
The project is also expected to create local economic opportunities through the appointment of 11 small, medium and micro enterprises (SMMEs), six local labourers and one Community Liaison Officer (CLO).
The municipality said it remained committed to investing in infrastructure that improves residents’ quality of life while creating opportunities for local businesses and communities.
The project is scheduled for completion by 26 February 2027.
