Power supply interruption planned for Three Rivers and parts of Midvaal

October 26, 2026

Residents and businesses in Three Rivers, Risiville and parts of Midvaal should prepare for a planned power supply interruption on Thursday, 29 October, as Emfuleni Local Municipality carries out maintenance on high-voltage power lines.

According to a public announcement issued by the municipality on 23 October, the electricity interruption will run from 09:00 to 17:00 while tree trimming and maintenance work is conducted at the Verdun Substation.

The affected areas include Three Rivers, Risiville, River Square Mall, Midvaal Hospital and parts of Midvaal. A separate notice from Midvaal Local Municipality lists Blackwood Street, The Oval, McKay Estates, Kubali Estates, Rissi Small Farms and Glendondal among the affected areas.

The municipalities warned that electricity supply may not remain off for the entire scheduled period and urged residents to treat all electrical circuits and appliances as live during the interruption.

Emfuleni Local Municipality apologised for the inconvenience and advised residents who require further information to contact its Electricity Control Room via WhatsApp on 065 871 7483.

Residents are encouraged to plan ahead and take the necessary precautions before the scheduled interruption.
