Midvaal Local Municipality has released the 16th and final edition of its Dintshang? Mayoral Newsletter, reflecting on key developments, municipal programmes and service delivery initiatives undertaken during the closing months of its current five-year term.
The latest edition provides residents with an opportunity to look back on the municipality’s work and the progress made across various communities, with a continued focus on infrastructure development, service delivery and community upliftment. The publication marks the final edition of the newsletter for the current administration, which took office in 2021.
Over the course of the term, Midvaal has placed emphasis on five key mayoral undertakings: investing in safety and security, creating opportunities, providing excellent service delivery, addressing challenges through innovation and creativity, and listening to the communities it serves.
Among the developments highlighted in the municipality’s broader five-year performance record are investments exceeding R190 million in roads and stormwater infrastructure, alongside significant improvements to water, electricity and sanitation infrastructure.
The municipality has also reported supporting more than 600 businesses through economic development initiatives, while expanding social development programmes aimed at young people, women, older persons, persons with disabilities and vulnerable households.
In its October 2026 updates, Midvaal reported repairing 4,524 potholes during September, representing a 56% increase compared with August. Municipal teams also worked on gravel road maintenance, stormwater infrastructure and general road upkeep.
Other recent initiatives include an investment of more than R11.7 million to upgrade three gravel roads in Ohenimuri to tar, as well as a second Mayoral Charity Golf Day that raised more than R60,000 for the Ikhwezi Lokusa Centre in De Deur.
The final newsletter therefore serves as a reflection on the municipality’s work during the final months of its term, while offering residents an opportunity to engage with the developments and initiatives shaping their communities.
