Midvaal steps up road maintenance with ongoing “War on Potholes” drive
Midvaal Local Municipality’s War on Potholes Campaign continues to make steady progress, with more than 572 potholes repaired across various roads in Midvaal over the past week, covering an area of more than 982m².
Midvaal Teams attended to roads in Walkers Fruit Farms, Riversdale, Rothdene, Meyerton, Golf Park, Meyerton Park, Ophir AH, Three Rivers, and several other communities across the municipality.
In addition, municipal grading teams covered more than 6 kilometres of gravel roads in Mooilande, Nelsonia, and Riversdale to improve road accessibility and driving conditions.
Work will continue on Cross Road, South Road, Vlakhaas Street, Holiday Street, Corrie Pypers Street, and other areas as pothole repair teams work to complete all identified repairs.
The grading teams will remain focused on gravel road maintenance in Mooilande this week.
Stormwater teams will soon begin cleaning box culverts, cutting weeds, and clearing rubble along Bell Road in Meyerton Park and other affected areas to improve water flow and reduce blockages.
To further improve service delivery and speed up response times, the Municipality is in the process of increasing personnel capacity to fast-track road repairs and maintenance work.
“We remain committed to improving road infrastructure and ensuring safer, more accessible roads for all residents,” Midvaal Executive Mayor Ald Peter Teixeira said.
