Botha hits her mark in rapid darts rise

Less than a year after picking up her first set of darts, Dani Botha has already competed on provincial and national stages while building a growing passion for the sport.

Her journey began in August 2025 when a local bar and restaurant became the new home of the Midvaal North Darts Association. With the sport suddenly available on their doorstep, Botha and her family decided to give it a try.

“Little did I know at the time that darts would quickly become a real passion of mine,” she said.

Botha threw herself into learning the game, competing in tournaments and challenging herself to improve with every appearance.

Her early results reflected that determination. She finished sixth at her first Gauteng Open before improving to fourth place at her first Sedibeng Open.

In 2026, Botha reached another milestone when she competed in her first Darts South Africa National Championships in Cape Town. She later recorded her first competitive score of 171 during the Gauteng Currie Cup.

“The experience has given me an opportunity to compete at provincial and national level, meet other players and create unforgettable memories along the way,” she said.

Botha now serves as the Assistant Development Officer at Midvaal North Darts Association, allowing her to contribute to the growth of the sport while continuing to develop her own game.

What began as a family experiment on their doorstep has become a sporting journey filled with impressive milestones—and Botha is only getting started.
