Poise Sport Institute launches Meyerton Judo Club as athletes strike gold at nationals

Poise Sport Institute has expanded its footprint with the opening of a new judo club in partnership with Henley High & Preparatory School, located at 3 St Patricks Road, Meyerton.

The initiative aims to provide more opportunities for young athletes to develop their skills and compete at higher levels.

The launch comes with added celebration as three of Poise’s judokas recently excelled at the South African Judo Championships. Caitlin Laatz captured gold at the SA Schools event, Amy Lewis also claimed gold at the nationals, and Chloe Smanjak achieved an impressive fourth place finish in her division. All three are learners at Henley High & Preparatory School.

Coach Philip, head coach at Poise Sport Institute, said: “These results reflect the exceptional talent and commitment our athletes bring to the sport. They train with passion and discipline, and we are very proud of the way they represent both Poise and Henley High. They are excellent role models for younger athletes starting out in judo.”

With the judo season in full swing, Poise Sport Institute remains focused on developing future national and international champions. The new Meyerton club offers training for all ages and skill levels, welcoming anyone interested in learning judo.
