Emfuleni’s road resealing programme continues
The Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM) thanks road users in Three Rivers (Umgeni St., Zambezi St., and Klip River Dr) and Vereeniging (Edward Street & Hofmeyer Ave.) for their patience while road resealing was underway.
The municipality has invested R20-million in the program which covers damaged roads in Three Rivers, Vereeniging, Vanderbijlpark and Sebokeng areas to ensure road surfaces last as long as possible, the Roads and Stormwater Department conducted thorough inspection of all targeted roads prior resealing.
The acting MMC for Public Works, Cllr. Hassan Mako said that the road network is one of our substantial assets and must be maintained.
“It was important for the municipality to invest in road maintenance to ensure safety for our people and to extend the lifespan of our roads,” said Mako.
“The Roads and Stormwater Department is still working on a list of additional roads for resealing. We anticipate that all the work will be completed by April 2023,” Mako added.
While resealing continues in Sebokeng (Road 32) and Vanderbijlpark (Austen Roberts St., & Bernard Price St.), road users of impacted streets are encouraged to exercise caution while construction is in progress.
Newly surfaced roads drivers are further requested to drive with care as no road markings can be expected for the first few days.
