Sedibeng District SAPS’ operations yield positive result

In the week between Thursday, 23 March and Friday, 31 March, multidisciplinary security forces conducted several crime reduction operations that included O’kae Molao, VCP’s, Road blocks, stop and searches and school talks amongst others.

Several arrests were made while firearms, drugs, dagga, liqour, dangerous weapons and illicit cigarettes were seized.

 SAPS’ spokesperson, Cpt Fikile Funda said: “It has been a very draining week as some of the operations’ members had to work tirelessly for whole nights.

The stakeholders involved in the operations included  CPF’s; SAPS members; Gauteng Community Safety; PRASA; Department of Home Affiars; Department of Correctional Services, private security companies; Siyabangena Patrollers; Ward councillors; Sedibeng Community Safety, Emfuleni Public Safety and Gauteng, Emfuleni, Midvaal and Lesedi  traffic  police.

The Sedibeng Acting District Commander,  Brigadier Mbangwa Nkhwashu commended all stakeholders on the job well done as some of the recovered firearms were going to be used in the commission of crimes like murder,  hijackings, rape, house and business robberies and cash in transit robberies amongst others.

“I am very proud to work with men and women in blue who are so committed in sparing their time to make sure that crime is reduced in Sedibeng,” said Nkhwashu.

All arrested suspects have since appeared in different magistrates courts.
