Midvaal launches R11 million roads project in Sicelo
Midvaal Local Municipality has launched a R11 million road construction project to allow Sicelo residents easier access to economic opportunities.
The project is part of Midvaal’s CBD Urban Design Framework to drive the revitalisation of the Meyerton CBD and is implemented in partnership with the Neighbourhood Development Partnership Programme (NDPG) to construct proper road infrastructure in support of linking Meyerton CBD; the railway station and Sicelo township.
It involves an upgrade of the east side of Station Road and Diens Avenue from gravel to tar road, along with constructing a sidewalk with parklets and the installation of a traffic circle.
“The upgraded road infrastructure will significantly contribute to the ease of movement of goods, fostering more efficient transportation and trade between Sicelo Township and the town’s central business district (CBD). The road will also allow our residents easier access to employment, health, education, and other social opportunities that are situated in the town’s CBD. The project’s anticipated construction duration is six months, said Midvaal Executive Mayor, Ald Peter Texeira.
“Midvaal Local Municipality remains committed to providing excellent service delivery and enhancing economic opportunities for all our residents.” he added.
