ATM bombed in Eikenhof
In the early hours of Monday, 14 August, WAR Control received a Code 1 (Panic) from Shell Eikenhof and immediately dispatched a reaction officer.
Upon arrival, the officer came under fire when suspects began shooting and a loud explosion was heard, the officer then called for backup.
SAPS Mondeor was notified and WAR Reaction backup dispatched. At 00h56 WAR Reaction and SAPS moved to Shell garage and it was discovered that an ATM had been bombed.
The suspects managed to escape on foot via the river banks. WAR and SAPS members searched the area and recovered several 9mm live rounds and shotgun cartridges.
WAR Reaction handed the scene over to SAPS. SAPS secured the crime scene for immediate investigation.
