Midvaal launches R16 million project to upgrade aged bulk water pipelines in Rothdene
Midvaal Local Municipality has initiated a project exceeding R16 million to replace at least 10,2 kilometres of aged water pipelines in Ward 3, Rothdene.
“This undertaking is geared towards curbing non-revenue water losses, improving revenue generation, and bolstering the overall efficiency of our water management systems. The municipality incurs millions in losses due to non-revenue water. Therefore, we are putting effort into reducing water losses,” said Midvaal Local Municipality’s Executive Mayor, Ald Peter Teixeira.
The project, scheduled for completion within eight weeks, has provided opportunities to five local Small Medium and Micro Enterprises (SMMEs) and created 48 job opportunities.
Teixeira added: “Midvaal is dedicated to investing in the maintenance and upgrades of our water infrastructure to ensure continued service excellence.”
