Midvaal North Darts Association aims to grow the sport in Sedibeng

The Midvaal North Darts Association, founded in January 2025 by Marius Swart, is on a mission to grow the sport of darts within the Sedibeng District.

“I always had a passion for the game of darts, and in December 2024 my wife and I decided to open our own club to develop the sport in Sedibeng,” said Swart, founder of the Association.

The district, the largest in Gauteng, previously had only two associations. Within months, the new club gained momentum – starting with 21 members at 2 Shy Pub in Garthdale and earning accreditation from the Gauteng Darts Federation on 7 February 2025. By July, the Association was officially ratified by Darts South Africa.

In August, the club moved to Deep South Pub in Walkerville to better serve the community and attract surrounding schools. They now invite individuals and youth aged 9 years and older to join their weekly darts evenings, held every Thursday at 18:30.

The Association will also be sending both men’s and ladies’ teams to district-level competitions throughout the year.
