Midvaal shines, winning five prestigious SALGA awards

Midvaal Local Municipality has once again emerged as a top performer, receiving prestigious awards at the South African Local Government Association (SALGA) Gauteng 3rd Annual Municipal Audit Awards ceremony in recognition of its exemplary performance.

SALGA hosted the 2023/2024 Municipal Audit Awards on Friday, 30 May. The event is held annually to recognise and celebrate municipalities for their exemplary financial management and adherence to the Municipal Finance Management Act (MFMA).

Midvaal received five awards in the following categories:

The Municipality that ensured accountability (swift consequences for transgressions and poor performance) for the 2023/2024 financial year.

The municipality that submitted quality Annual Financial Statements and Annual Performance Report (i.e. no corrections were made during audit) for the 2023/24 Financial Year.

The municipality that can pay service providers within 30 days for the 2023/2024 financial year.

Municipal capital grants service delivery for Local Municipalities for the 2023/24 Financial year. Midvaal had a 99.2% spending.

The municipality that has obtained a clean audit and highlighting areas of improvement for the 2023/2024 financial year.

These awards are a testament to Midvaal’s commitment to good governance, transparency, accountability and long-term financial sustainability.
