Meyerton police recover wanted vehicle linked to housebreakings, two suspects arrested
Meyerton SAPS have recovered a red Renault Triber linked to a series of housebreaking and theft cases and arrested of two suspects aged 31 and 47.
The vehicle which triggered three alerts on the Sniper tracking system was traced to the Riversdal area.
Meyerton SAPS Communication Officer, Constable Nompumelelo Zazini, said the recovery forms part of ongoing efforts to combat property-related crimes.
“The vehicle was positively identified and seized. Two suspects were arrested and items believed to be used in the commission of housebreaking and theft were recovered and booked into SAPS custody,” she said.
The suspects were found in possession of a black Samsung cellphone and Honor cellphone, both of which were booked as exhibits. Police also seized a pair of number plates and a flat screwdriver with an orange handle.
The vehicle was booked at Meyerton SAPS and later transferred to Vereeniging Vehicle Safeguarding Services (VSS).
Further investigations have linked the vehicle to multiple case dockets, including cases reported in Meyerton and Kathlehong North. Members from Kathlehong Serious and Violent Crimes attended the scene and confirmed the vehicle was sought in connection with other investigations.
The suspects are expected to appear in court on charges of housebreaking and theft, while investigations into additional linked cases continue.
