De Deur SAPS engages Tshepong community

On Wednesday, 28 January, De Deur SAPS held a community engagement in Tshepong to address the community on criminality and lawlessness in the area.

De Deur SAPS Station Commander, Col Zachariah Ranake, addressing the gathering said: “The community should assist us by reporting crimes as soon as they occur. Reporting a case makes things easier for us to assist you.”

He said: “I urge community members to refrain from walking alone at night to avoid falling victim to crime. We also encourage residents to come forward with information and addresses of unlicensed shebeens and unlicensed scrapyards in their areas. It is equally important that all crimes are reported as soon as they occur so that we can act accordingly.”

He further warned the public not to buy stolen goods and to be cautious when making online purchases especially from strangers. a

Ranake concluded: “Community members were given an opportunity to raise their concerns and ask questions and we addressed each issue raised. I want to reassure the public that SAPS remains fully committed to tackling criminality in this area and ensuring the safety of our communities.”
