Here are Walkerville roads to be closed for SA National Cycling Championships this weekend
Midvaal residents are advised of a temporary road closures in Walkerville to accommodate the 2026 SA National Cycling Championships, that will take place from 5 to 8 February.
According to the statement issued by Midvaal Local Municipality, several key roads will be closed daily from 5am to 5pm to ensure the safe hosting of the prestigious national sporting event.
“Roads affected by the temporary closure are, Main Street, Walkerville will be closed from Rosenbusch up to R557/Randvaal Road.
R557/Randvaal Road will be closed from Main Street to 5th Avenue,” reads the statement.
Midvaal municipal confirmed that the closures are being implemented in terms of Section 66 of the Local Government Ordinance, No. 17 of 1939, as amended.
The statement added: “The route will commence at Rosenbusch, proceed right onto R557, left onto R82, left onto Aloe Ridge Drive, left onto School Road, right onto Main Street, left onto Perdekop Road, right onto 4th Avenue, continue straight to R557, and return left to Rosenbusch.”
Midvaal municipal apologised for any inconvenience the closures may cause.
