Midvaal nears completion of the Lakeside Multipurpose Centre

Midvaal Local Municipality has reported progress on the construction of Lakeside Multipurpose Centre.

Executive Mayor Alderman Peter Teixeira recently conducted an oversight visit to assess developments and determine whether the project remains on track. He was joined by Members of the Mayoral Committee and Municipal Manager, Mr Phumudzo Magodi.

“Several major components of the development have already been completed, including the astroturf field, tennis courts, ablution facilities and the 5-a-side football pitch. Construction of the main hall has also been finalised,” said Executive Mayor Alderman Peter Teixeira.

According to the municipality, only minor outstanding work remains, including water connections to improve pressure, as well as paving and landscaping.

The municipality anticipates that the Lakeside Multipurpose Centre will open in June 2026.

Municipal officials said the project forms part of ongoing efforts to invest in recreational infrastructure aimed at benefiting local communities. The development is intended to promote healthy lifestyles, nurture talent, and provide safe and accessible spaces, particularly for young people.

Midvaal Local Municipality stated that it remains committed to delivering infrastructure projects designed to improve the quality of life for residents.
