Interhigh event used to drive Anti-Bullying and Drug Awareness

A school safety awareness campaign was conducted during a School Interhigh sporting event on 10 February, reaching approximately 100 learners who attended as spectators.

Stakeholders say the initiative focused on educating learners about bullying and drug abuse while monitoring the event to promote a safer school environment. The awareness activities were carried out during the sporting programme, which included participation from different schools.

Those involved in the campaign included members of the Social Crime unit, a Communication Officer, the GBV Coordinator, Sector Managers, representatives from the Department of Education, private security personnel, and learners.

“The engagement formed part of ongoing school safety efforts aimed at addressing challenges affecting learners in and around school premise,” said Meyerton SAPS Communication Officer, Nompumelelo Zazini
