Police hunt suspect after fatal stabbing next to Khanyile’s Tavern
Mpho Julia Ramaisa is wanted by police following a fatal stabbing on 1 January 2026 at a tent next to Khanyile’s Tavern. The victim, who collapsed at the scene, later died at Kopanong Hospital.
According to witnesses, a fight broke out between Mpho and the deceased inside the tent. Bystanders initially intervened, and both parties left the area. Minutes later, the deceased returned and reported another confrontation in the passage, during which Mpho allegedly stabbed her.
Meyerton SAPS Communication Officer Constable Nompumelelo Zazini, told Walkerville and Savanna City Times: “ Mpho Julia Ramaisa is currently at large. We urge anyone with information about her whereabouts to contact the police immediately to assist with the investigation.”
Police are appealing to the public to provide any tips or information that could lead to the arrest of the suspect. The community remains in shock following this tragic New Year’s Day incident.
