Three stops, one mission: Giving back
Midvaal Local Municipality marked Nelson Mandela on Saturday, 18 July, by visiting three community organisations, where Executive Mayor Peter Teixeira, municipal officials and corporate partners spent their 67 Minutes giving back through acts of service and donations.
The programme began with a fun walk and run at the Känguru Institute for the Disabled, before the delegation visited Lerato Child and Youth Care Centre, where essential donations were handed over with the support of HarvestFresh Farms Pty Ltd, Lynca Meats, Nedbank, Fresh Leaf and Klip Supermarket.
The final stop was Ikhwezilokusa Psychiatric Home, where the municipality continued its outreach by spending time with residents and reinforcing the spirit of compassion that defines Mandela Day.
“Mandela Day is a reminder that each of us has the power to make a difference. By giving our time and working alongside our partners, we are not only meeting immediate needs but also strengthening the spirit of compassion and unity within our communities. Together, we can continue building a caring and inclusive Midvaal,” said Mayor Peter Teixeira.
The municipality thanked its partners for their generosity and commitment to improving the lives of vulnerable members of the community, saying their support helped make this year’s Mandela Day outreach a meaningful success.
