Relocated Heidelberg Clinic opens doors to improved healthcare

Residents of Heidelberg and surrounding areas will benefit from more consultation space and a range of primary healthcare services following the official opening of the town’s relocated clinic on 14 October.

Gauteng MEC for Health and Wellness Faith Mazibuko and Sedibeng District MMC for Health and Social Development, Councillor Bheki Mkhize, conducted a walkabout of the facility before marking its opening with a ceremonial ribbon-cutting.

According to the Gauteng Department of Health, the relocation aims to improve access to healthcare for the local community.

“The new facility will provide patients and clinicians with more space to support consultations and the delivery of healthcare services in a more comfortable environment,” the department said in its statement.

The clinic has an emergency room, two doctors’ consultation rooms, four nurses’ consultation rooms and a pharmacy with a Central Chronic Medicines Dispensing and Distribution (CCMDD) system.

Other facilities include a reception area, a filing room, a vitals room and patient ablution facilities.

Patients will have access to chronic disease management, HIV and TB services, antenatal care, family planning and mental health services.

The clinic’s healthcare offering also includes rehabilitation, physiotherapy, occupational therapy and psychological services, alongside youth-friendly services and community outreach programmes.

The department said residents welcomed the new facility, which will serve Heidelberg and surrounding communities.
