Residents of Rust-Ter-Vaal and surrounding communities can once again access healthcare services closer to home following the official reopening of Rust-Ter-Vaal Clinic on Tuesday, 20 October.
Gauteng MEC for Health and Wellness Faith Mazibuko, alongside Emfuleni Executive Mayor Hassan Mako, officially reopened the facility after extensive refurbishment.
During the closure, patients were transported to Market Avenue Clinic in Vereeniging to receive medical attention.
The upgraded facility now boasts six consultation rooms, including a doctor’s consultation room, an emergency room, pharmacy, dry stock room and enclosed waiting area.
Healthcare services include chronic and acute care, antenatal services, immunisations, emergency treatment, HIV counselling and treatment adherence support. Residents can also access dietetic and social work services.
Additional improvements include a staff room, records storage and a designated medical waste room.
The refurbishment forms part of the Gauteng Department of Health’s infrastructure improvement projects aimed at strengthening healthcare delivery, improving patient experiences and ensuring communities receive accessible, quality medical care.
