Midvaal water shutdowns: Daleside, Highbury and Valley Settlements affected in October
Residents in parts of Midvaal have been advised to prepare for scheduled water supply interruptions as the municipality undertakes essential infrastructure maintenance aimed at improving service delivery.
Midvaal Local Municipality has announced planned water interruptions affecting Wards 4 and 5, specifically Daleside, Highbury and Valley Settlements, during October 2026.
According to a public notice issued by the municipality on 2 October, the interruptions are scheduled for three consecutive Wednesdays: 14, 21 and 28 October 2026, between 08:00 and 15:00.
With the first scheduled interruption having taken place on 14 October, residents are reminded to prepare for the remaining planned shutdowns on 21 and 28 October.
The municipality explained that the interruptions are necessary to facilitate the replacement of isolating valves as part of ongoing efforts to improve the efficiency and reliability of its water infrastructure.
The maintenance work requires temporary shutdowns to ensure the safe connection and commissioning of the newly installed valves.
To minimise inconvenience, the municipality has confirmed that a roaming water tanker truck will be deployed during the shutdown periods to assist affected households.
Residents are encouraged to make the necessary arrangements and store sufficient water ahead of the scheduled interruptions.
The municipality has apologised for any inconvenience caused by the planned maintenance, emphasising its commitment to improving infrastructure and service delivery.
Municipal Manager Phumudzo Magodi signed the official notice outlining the planned works.
