GBVF campaign raises awareness at Sicelo Clinic

Sicelo Clinic hosted a Gender-Based Violence and Femicide (GBVF) awareness session on 26 May, aimed at educating patients on domestic violence reporting processes and strengthening child protection awareness.

The session was led by Domestic Violence Coordinator W/O Mohlapholi, who highlighted the importance of reporting domestic violence, the procedure for obtaining protection orders, and the seriousness of abuse within communities. Patients were also encouraged to report criminal activities affecting their area.

Sector Manager Cst Jelani addressed community safety concerns, speaking on crime affecting daily life and urging residents to work closely with law enforcement in reporting incidents.

As part of Child Protection Month, Vereeniging FCS W/O Nhlapo focused on children’s rights and responsibilities, reinforcing the importance of protecting minors from abuse and neglect.

The initiative brought together SAPS, FCS, the Fire Department, Lifeline, Siyabangena, Agape, and the Department of Health in a coordinated awareness effort. A total of 50 pamphlets were distributed.

Meyerton SAPS Social Crime Prevention noted that the programme forms part of ongoing efforts to educate communities and encourage reporting of GBVF-related crimes.
