Meyerton SAPS engages community on crime concerns
Meyerton SAPS Station Commander, Colonel Senzangakona Christopher Mohale, met with residents of Meyerton Park on 27 May to discuss crime-related challenges and strengthen cooperation between the police and the community.
During the engagement, community members raised concerns about police visibility and response times, saying these issues affect their sense of safety. Residents and police officials also exchanged suggestions on ways to combat crime more effectively in the area.
Colonel Mohale highlighted the importance of a strong partnership between the police and the community, urging residents to act as the eyes and ears of law enforcement by reporting criminal activities. He also announced plans to strengthen and revive Sector Forums, with sector managers tasked with improving communication and collaboration between police and residents.
Representatives from the Vereeniging Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit also attended the meeting and addressed issues related to Gender-Based Violence and Femicide (GBVF).
Meyerton SAPS Social Crime Prevention Coordinator, Constable Nompumelelo Zazini, said community participation remains key to creating safer neighbourhoods.
“Crime prevention is most effective when the police and community work together. Meetings such as these provide a platform for residents to raise concerns and help us find solutions collectively,” said Zazini.
Colonel Mohale thanked residents for attending and encouraged continued cooperation in the fight against crime.
