eNet celebrates African healing

The voices, wisdom and traditions that have shaped African communities for generations will be honoured when the 08th ATM/IKS Honorary Awards take place in Sebokeng on 8 August.

Hosted by eNet Health South Africa Official NPC, the event will bring together traditional health practitioners, cultural leaders, researchers, health professionals, artists and community members for a day dedicated to African traditional medicine, Indigenous Knowledge Systems and cultural heritage.

The awards will be held from 08:00 to 15:00 at 8729 Zone 7A, next to Lefika Primary School.

More than a formal ceremony, the event is expected to become a vibrant celebration of healing, identity, culture and community unity. Guests can look forward to cultural performances, heritage discussions, networking opportunities and the recognition of individuals who continue to preserve African knowledge and serve their communities.

The 2026 programme will honour excellence in traditional healing, herbal medicine, cultural preservation, community health advocacy, youth and women empowerment, indigenous research, digital heritage promotion and traditional performance.

Among those expected to receive recognition are Dr R.S. Mtshuma, Tsakani Mabena, Katleho Nkamoheleng Mosese and Honourable Dr Stanza Maloka for their contributions to healthcare, research, cultural preservation and community development.

The gathering is supported by His Royal Majesty Kgosi-Kgolo Lehasa II of the Makgolokwe A Mafehleng Traditional Council, alongside traditional practitioners, academics, cultural custodians and health-sector representatives.

eNet Health South Africa Official NPC president Lillian Molakeng-Hlopho said the awards serve as a platform for remembrance, recognition and restoration.

She said the event seeks to honour those who keep African knowledge alive while reinforcing the importance of Indigenous Knowledge Systems in health, education and community development.

An Awardee Raffle Draw will also add excitement to the programme, with nominees standing a chance to win trophies, books, goodie bags, special recognition prizes and a dinner buffet experience.

Under the theme of renewal, healing and cultural preservation, the event aims to connect generations and strengthen respect for African traditional knowledge.

Members of the public are welcome to attend.
