Mamello and BBK Stars shine at the first-ever Midvaal Loxion Games
Midvaal Local Municipality brought the community alive with the launch of its inaugural Loxion Games in Mamello on 15 November – a vibrant celebration of sport, youth talent, and community spirit.
The event, championed by Executive Mayor Alderman Peter Teixeira, forms part of the municipality’s mission to empower young people, keep them active, and offer safe, positive alternatives to the social challenges many communities face. The vision is big: to roll out the Loxion Games across more areas in Midvaal and ultimately bring the top teams together for the annual Mayoral Youth Games on 16 June.
The action kicked off with electrifying semi-finals. Mamello Stars claimed a 3-1 win over Vaal Killers in the soccer division, while BBK Stars dominated the netball court with a commanding 32-2 victory over Mamello.
The finals didn’t disappoint. On the soccer field, Mamello Stars and BBK FC battled to a 1-1 draw, forcing a nail-biting penalty shootout that saw Mamello Stars edge out a 4-3 victory. Over on the netball court, BBK Stars continued their winning streak, defeating Mamello Netball Stars 22-18 in a thrilling clash.
Mayor Teixeira praised the success of the launch, emphasising that initiatives like the Loxion Games not only build athletic skill but also foster healthier, safer, and more connected communities. He reaffirmed the municipality’s commitment to expanding sporting opportunities and creating stronger pathways for young athletes across Midvaal.
