Man fatally shot in Meyerton Ext 4

Tragedy struck Ext 4 in Sicelo, Meyerton, on Saturday evening, 11 January , when a man was shot and killed in a violent incident that has left the community shaken.

The shooting occurred at approximately 19:00. The victim sustained seven gunshot wounds, including injuries to the chest, back, both hands and the right thigh, and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Meyerton SAPS communications officer, Constable Nompumelelo Zazini, said the deceased was allegedly chased by two unknown Black African males, both armed before being fatally shot.

“Police recovered two spent cartridges from a neighbouring yard, while one projectile was found inside the deceased’s shack in Ext 4, Sicelo,” said Constable Zazini.

At this stage, the motive for the killing remains unknown. No arrests have been made, and the suspects are still at large. A case of murder has been opened and investigations are continuing.

Police have appealed to anyone with information that could assist in identifying the suspects or clarifying the circumstances surrounding the incident to contact Meyerton SAPS or their nearest police station.
