The makeover follows the South African Pony Club national committee’s Annual General Meeting in Kwa-Zulu Natal recently.

“Planning the way forward for the year is vital, as was sharing of ideas and re-committing to the standards of horsemanship that we hold so high. Our members were lucky enough to take part in a number of virtual International competitions this year in show jumping and dressage through the PCIA (Pony Club International Alliance),” said SA Pony Club’s national secretary, Chantal Gomes.

The South African Pony Club is a voluntary, non-profit organisation for young people (up until the age of 25) who are interested in horses and ponies.  It has been around for over 90 years and are the world’s largest association of young riders.

“Our purpose is to encourage young people to ride, learn and to enjoy all kinds of sports connected with horses, ponies and riding. We give instruction in riding and horse mastership and to educate members to look after and take proper care of their animals,” Gomes added.

The club promotes the highest ideals of sportsmanship, citizenship and loyalty in order to create strength of character and self-discipline.
