Savanna City-based NPO caring for the elderly seeks your support

Bonkgono Kopanong, a Non-Profit Organisation based in Savanna City appeals to readers to assist it with food donations and a place to operate so that it can continue helping the elderly in the community.

By Queen Machimana

Founded in 2018 by Maria “Mamabizela” Serathi, the organisation serves as a social rehabilitation for the elderly offering physical exercises, physiotherapy, occupational therapy services and training, counselling, referrals and support services for carers, home visits, family activities, support groups and more.

The initial plan has been to provide breakfasts and lunch after those activities but since they don’t get donations or financial injection, Bonkgono Kopanong’s executive and beneficiaries have been contributing R30 to be able to buy food.

Serathi told Walkerville and Savanna City Times: “We plead with readers to help us carry out our organisations mandate. We ask for food donations and a place where Bonkgono Kopanong can operate at, so that our grandmothers and grandfathers can fully reap the benefits of being part of this organisation.”

For donations or support, please call Maria Serathi on 078 694 9614.
