POPCRU Sedibeng to picket outside Vereeniging SAPS
The Police and Prisons Civil Rights Union (POPCRU) Sedibeng Local’s Major George Lefafa has written a letter notifying the Vereeniging SAPS Station Commander, Brig Sophie Ndaba, of a picket outside the station on Wednesday, 5 April between 1 and 2pm.
“Kindly take note that POPCRU Sedibeng Local will be embarking on a program of action outside premises of Vereeniging SAPS. Please be informed that we are not going to hand over a memorandum,” read part of the letter.
The Police and Prisons Civil Rights Union is a trade union organisation in South Africa operating within the South African Police Service [SAPS], the Department of Correctional Services [DCS] and the Traffic component. POPCRU represents more than hundred and fifty thousand [150 000] Police, Corrections and Traffic Officials.
POPCRU is engaged on a public service action where workers are rejecting a 3% wage increase and demanding 10%.
