Armed suspects rob, bomb safe at Eikenhof’s Astron Garage

In the early hours of the morning, a group of armed suspects perpetrated a terrifying attack at Astron Garage in Eikenhof along the R82, leaving a trail of destruction and causing severe distress to patrons and staff.

At approximately 04:15, WAR Security’s Reaction swiftly responded to alarming reports of a loud explosion and gunfire emanating from Astron Garage. Upon arrival, it was discovered that the perpetrators had forcefully entered the premises, brandishing weapons and subjecting the staff and customers to a harrowing ordeal.

The assailants, numbering seven, proceeded to rob the establishment and executed a bombing of the drop safe within the store. Distressed patrons were stripped of their cell phones and personal belongings, while one unfortunate victim suffered a gunshot wound during the tumultuous incident.

Eyewitnesses reported the suspects fleeing the scene on foot, heading in the direction of Jackson’s informal settlement situated along the R82. In a rapid response to the distress call, COMPOL members and ADT security personnel swiftly converged on the location to contain the situation.

ER24 Emergency services were summoned to administer medical attention to the injured victim. Meanwhile, law enforcement agencies, including the South African Police Service (SAPS), were promptly notified and arrived at the scene to secure the area and initiate a comprehensive investigation.
