Midvaal receives 10th consecutive clean audit
Midvaal Local Municipality has achieved a 10th consecutive unqualified opinion audit outcome for the 2022/2023 financial year as announced by the office of Auditor General (AG) during a Special Council meeting held on Monday, 29 January.
The municipality underwent auditing of its financial statements, performance management, internal controls, and compliance efficiency. The AG confirmed that the municipality provided valid financial records with no material findings or misrepresentations.
Welcomeing the outcome, Midvaal Local Municipality’s Executive Mayor, Ald. Peter Teixeira, said: “Our administration will continue to work hard and ensure that the clean audits find expression in tangible service delivery, such as the improvement of infrastructure, investment into safety and the upliftment of our people in Midvaal.“
Teixeira further reiterated that clean audits mean nothing if the people of Midvaal cannot touch, feel, see, and reap the benefits of a well-run municipality.
Midvaal’s vision is rooted in being a well-governed, effectively managed, financially viable and sustainable organisation.
“The municipality is actively working to ensure that the streak of clean audits continues to translate into service excellence. Efforts are directed towards attracting investment to foster local economic growth and create opportunities for all. The municipality will continue to invest in safety and security to keep residents safe. As a municipality, we remain steadfast in our pursuit of progress, economic growth, and a brighter future for all Midvaal residents,” Teixeira concluded.
