G63 to launch powerful debut EP ‘Uthando Luka Baka’

General Unity Mass Choir (G63), a dynamic group of young gospel singers from Boipatong, Vanderbijlpark, is set to release its much-anticipated debut EP titled Uthando Luka Baka on 31 May. The title, meaning “We have seen God’s love through our passion for music,” reflects the choir’s deep spiritual mission and heartfelt journey.

Founded in 2024 by Lehlohonolo Mohlabane and a few close friends, the choir has grown from just seven members to a strong collective of 25 passionate voices. Their vision is clear – to heal, uplift, and inspire through music, especially reaching out to young people who have strayed from the church.

“Music is our way of keeping young people away from harmful distractions like drugs. Idle minds are the devil’s playground,” said Mohlabane.

With a unique blend of apostolic gospel and vibrant tambourine rhythms, G63 has made remarkable strides in its first year. The choir has graced six different stages, hosted the inaugural Postola Night Show in 2024 featuring various local choirs and even earned a nomination at the prestigious First Choral Indigenous Music Awards.

Mohlabane expressed his excitement about the upcoming launch: “This EP is a stepping stone for us. It will not only help us grow as a choir, but it will also attract more young talent and open new opportunities.”The Uthando Luka Baka EP marks a significant milestone for G63 – and it’s just the beginning.
